MY ‘BUMP SHOOT’ PHOTOS!
CAPTURING my growing bump in all of its glory is something I’ve always wanted to do in this pregnancy.
I had a maternity shoot when I was pregnant with Elsie and second time around, I knew I wanted to have some special photographs taken again to remind me of this incredibly happy time. Particularly as this pregnancy has gone by so quickly!
Being pregnant again for the second time has been quite an eye opener. Unlike my first pregnancy, this time around I’ve had very little time to even think about being pregnant as I’ve been so busy working, looking after Elsie and getting on with life and so I wanted to do something to record it.
It’s just so different with your second!
People don’t ask how you are as much, little attention is given and time – as I keep saying – has gone and is continuing to go super fast. So a bump shoot just seemed the best way to capture this pregnancy (which I didn’t think would ever happen) and also, more importantly, to celebrate it for myself.
I teamed up with a good friend of mine, the very lovely and talented Helen from Masque Photography to take the photos and we decided to do something a little different, inspired by the current photography concept to take America by storm – the milk bath shoot.
The shoot itself, which we only did last week, was great fun. I had my hair and make up professionally done (a must for a proper shoot and also such a treat!) and we hired out a hotel room for the afternoon to make use of a lovely roll top bath.
And as for the photographs? Well here, some of them, are!
I think it’s safe to say that I absolutely love them!
They’re everything I hoped for and more and I just know that one day, when I’m an old lady, I will look back at these photos with tears in my eyes as I remember what has turned out to be one of the happiest times of my adult life.
Although how on earth, I’ll pick a favourite or two to have printed and framed, I just don’t know!
Besides the milk bath shoot, we also managed to grab a few other different type of shots which I’ll share soon too in future pregnancy updates.
Huge thanks to Helen for taking such wonderful photographs of me and my precious baby bump! If you are thinking of having a maternity shoot yourself, I cannot recommend Helen or the experience, highly enough.
Carrying a child is a privilege and an honour and if that doesn’t deserve celebrating with some stunning photos, well I honestly don’t know what does. What say you?…

OH MY WORD!!! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
Thank you Cerys! :)
OMG Katie – first of all how the hell do you manage to make lying in a bath of milk look so effortless and glamorous . . . and secondly was it cold?!
I LOVE these photos. I never really had any sort of maternity shoot and just have the odd random photo we took ourselves which is a shame as I loved all three of my bumps so.
Haha! It was all utterly bonkers Colette but great fun and no, not cold. The water was nice and warm – you add milk to the bath water, thank goodness! As I keep saying to everyone, I think ANY bump photo is really special, pregnancy is so fleeting (Even though admittedly it doesn’t always feel like this at the time!) x
I have been looking forward to seeing these after your sneak preview the other day. What can I say? What a talented lady she is and what a beauty you are! I love every single one! x
Thanks Katy! Love ’em! And yep Helen is amazing. Has a real gift for capturing women as themselves but at their very best. x
You manage combine looking so maternal while also oozing such beauty and, yes, sexiness too. Stunning!!
Ah thanks Jenny!
These are simply stunning. As are you beautiful lady. I had never heard of a milk bath photo shoot before. But it does look like a fabulous way of capturing a longed for pregnancy. And I echo Colette above, there aren’t many people who can make lying in a bath of milk so glamorous and beautiful.
I never had a maternity shoot. And I wish I had. All the photos of my bump make me really emotional. I wish I had some special photographs to capture that amazing time. Hugs Lucy xxxx PS. I love the changes to the blog design.
Thanks so much Lucy. It may look glamorous but it was also utterly bonkers! ;-) I think all bump photos are incredibly special – professional or not. So glad you love the new blog design too! x
What stunning photos! They are absolutely gorgeous and you look like you are glowing in each and every one of them lovely. Such a wonderful idea to capture your second pregnancy in this way. I’ve noticed a few milk bath pictures creeping up in my instagram feed over the last few months and just love the whole look and feel of them – so serene! Thanks for sharing this with us, but how could you not after they turned out so well :-) Emily x
Thanks so much Emily. So kind of you. Will definitely be proud to hang a few of these photos on the wall. ;-) x
Oh wow, such beautiful photos. I kind of wish I had of done a maternity shoot as there’ll be no more babies for me
Ah thanks so much Toni! Perhaps you could do a cracking family shoot or boudoir shoot just for YOU instead?
You are stunning Katie, what an amazing keepsake. Mich x
Wow how glamorous you look in your pregnancy shoot! I never remember looking that good with any of mine. How I wish I had captured each one like you have – photos to treasure as time passes all too quick.
Absolutely stunning photographs. You look gorgeous.
