REVIEW / BETTER SLEEP WITH LEESA

You don’t really appreciate a decent night’s sleep until you become a mother.

Or at least that’s my theory!

Since becoming a mum six years ago, a decent night’s sleep for me has become somewhat of a luxury and a rare luxury at that. Leo still doesn’t sleep through the night and I’m OK with that as that’s what little people do, but what it does mean is because my sleep is interrupted I really need to to try and ensure that I get as much decent sleep as I possibly can. (When I do eventually manage to close my eyes.)

Leesa very kindly asked if I’d like to try out their award-winning mattress to see if it would help and well, to be honest, I almost bit their hands off for the opportunity. Anything to help me sleep better is a godsend at the moment so naturally I said yes please!

Here’s how I’ve got on with using it over the past three to four weeks.

How it looks

The first thing that strikes you when you open the box (which is surprisingly small as the mattress is curled up in the box and expands when you lay it on your bed frame) is just how rather lovely looking it is as mattresses go.

To use the old M&S slogan, ‘this is no ordinary’ mattress and it’s attractive grey design which features the brand’s trademark four bold white stripes is particularly pleasing to the eye. Once out on our bed frame, it took around thirty minutes to rise to it’s full impressive depth and the four of us couldn’t wait to hop on and have a little bounce.

How it feels

In one word, amazing! You might think it’s hard to get excited about a mattress and I thought the same, but our new Leesa king size has been a revelation and has improved my happiness levels greatly already!

The mattress is very thick, so it did take me a little while to get used to it at first. I did joke to Jamie that I felt like I was sat up with the gods when we first put it on, but that’s also because our bed frame is pretty high up too. However now I’m used to it, the height is no problem at all. In fact I actually rather like it.

The Leesa mattress is so, so comfortable. It’s made up of three premium foams for help with cooling, body contouring and pressure-relieving core support and you can really tell the difference.

I don’t think I’ve ever been on a mattress as comfortable or supportive, certainly not in my own home and going to bed at night has now become somewhat of a welcome treat.

Sleeping, lying and sitting in bed really has become utter bliss and it’s not just me and the husband who feel this way because the kids apparently love it too, with Elsie declaring every morning, that we now have the comfiest bed in the world! (She has a point.)

So, has it helped?

Well to answer the killer question, yes it absolutely has. My sleep is still disturbed thanks to Leo’s frequent night wakings and feedings but my sleep quality is definitely much better than it was previously.

Now when I’m asleep, I don’t toss or turn nowhere near as much. In fact, come to think of it I don’t really move around much at all now which is a little odd – albeit in a good way – as it’s always taken me a while to get comfortable, particularly after I’ve been woken up by lovely Leo.

Interestingly I’ve also noticed a huge improvement in how long it takes me to fall asleep. Since using the mattress, it now takes me just a few mere minutes to drift off into sleep once my head hits the pillow. Again this is pretty unusual for me, because for as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled to get to sleep quickly.

My new Leesa mattress has definitely helped to improve my sleep and whilst I’m still waiting for the ‘sleep all night through’ miracle to happen with Leo, I couldn’t be more grateful for the better quality of sleep this mattress has given me in the meantime.

So even though Leesa offer a 100-night risk free trial, there’s no way this mattress is leaving my company in the foreseeable future.

If you’re considering investing in a new mattress anytime soon, I very happily recommend and suggest that you give the Leesa mattress some serious thought. Particularly if you’re a much sleep deprived busy mum like me.
