THREE TIPS FOR GETTING MORE THINGS DONE IN EVERYDAY LIFE

Do you ever catch yourself feeling as though you just don’t get anywhere near enough done, on any given day?

When you consider the broad range of things that people are frequently concerned with on an everyday basis, a sense of being overly stressed, overworked, and lacking in time, is remarkably common.

One major side effect of this is that it’s easy to end up feeling as though you are always playing catch up, and are never really managing to make headway on your preferred goals, hobbies, and areas of interest.

While there isn’t a one size fits all perfect solution for this issue, there are certainly things that have a good chance of helping you to get more done in everyday life. Here are a few tips.

1. Optimise your own energy levels by eating enough, sleeping enough & exercising enough

Before you criticise yourself for being “lazy” or “disorganised,” you should step back and take a serious look at whether or not you are trying to paddle upstream against chronically low energy levels.

Even if you have the best of intentions, and the most seemingly bullet-proof everyday routine in place, it will be very difficult to remain properly active and productive, if you are constantly exhausted.

Unfortunately, there are many trends, habits, and routines people frequently fall into these days which are known to contribute to chronically low energy levels. Yo-yo dieting is one of these factors – as it leads to a significant suppression of the metabolism. Chronic sleep deprivation is another leading issue.

If you want to get more done in any given day, perhaps the first thing to do is to optimise your energy levels by eating enough, sleeping enough, and exercising enough. And don’t forget vitamins and minerals, either.

2. When the stakes aren’t very high, take action as quickly as possible on different chores and tasks

There are all sorts of chores that you will likely need to deal with, and which can cause plenty of trouble in your life until you deal with them, but which are not exactly “high stakes” in a broader sense.

If you have a lot of rubbish and clutter around your home that you need to deal with, for example, you probably aren’t going to gain or lose much by spending weeks researching the best way to get the job done.

In cases such as this, take action as quickly as possible to deal with the chore, or task, and to resolve the issue. This could include hiring a same-day rubbish removal company, for example.

3. Use a task management system that you can stick to, that really helps you to catalogue and deal with things efficiently

There are many great and sophisticated task and project management systems out there, but none of them are likely to do you much good unless you can actually stick to them reliably. You need some tool and some system in order to stay on top of your tasks. But you should research the options, and pick the one that feels most sustainable to you. Consistency is a key factor here.
