REVIEW / LIBRIO & THEIR PERSONALISED BOOK ‘THE TREE, THE KEY & ME’

A personalised adventure book from Librio has brought back very happy memories…

You see, in my house there is a very special book. I keep it in one of my many ‘precious sentimental things’ type of storage boxes and every so often I get it out to show Elsie or to have a little read.

I was bought this book by my Gran over thirty years ago and let’s just say it’s much loved. It’s a little dogeared now, some of the pages have come loose and a few of the illustrations are more than a little grubby but when I turn the pages, I can’t help but be transported back to the magic of childhood and my love for books which began way before I even started school.

As I say it’s very special to me. But it’s not just because it’s a much loved childhood book. It’s because it was also personalised to me. Little Katie Louise Eileen, who knew even back then at the youngest of ages, that words were the key to something wonderful. (Thank you Gran.)

Fast forward over three decades and I now have a daughter who thankfully adores books and reading just as much as me! Many a time I will often find Elsie curled up on the sofa with a book in hand and as she’s grown older and has become more appreciative of things, I’ve been thinking of getting her, her very own personalised book for a while.

So when, as if by magic, Librio got in touch and asked if I’d like to try out their personalised book ‘The Tree, The Key & Me’ I quickly said ‘yes please!’

I popped onto the Librio website and created a personalised book for little Elsie in little more than a few minutes and it was ridiculously easy.

Librio’s website is fun and friendly and makes creating a personalised book for any child, quite frankly a total doddle. You just pop in their gender and name, pick the physical characteristics of the child and hey presto, in a matter of seconds you are given a personalised book to view, confirm and add to your shopping basket. (I still can’t get over how much Elsie in the book looks like, well, Elsie!)

All Librio books are printed in the UK, posted worldwide, and despatched within three working days and I can testify that their service is super efficient and quick! Our book arrived in just a few days which is very impressive and much quicker than I anticipated and the quality is fantastic. Quite simply, it’s a beautiful book.

With glorious full page illustrations and Elsie’s name on the cover and a character who looks just like her (!), I couldn’t wait to show it to her when she arrived home from school as I knew she would be delighted with it and I wasn’t wrong. She loves it.

The book itself is an adventure story in which the key character (Elsie in this instance) goes on a special journey to help a group of animals. Elsie’s character in the book has to help the animals because their world is losing its colour and so off she bravely goes to work with a witch to bring the colour back to the animal kingdom.

It’s a lovely read. The story is interesting and pleasing and is great for bedtime, although of course can (and should) be enjoyed any time. It’s a good length (not too short but equally not too long) and both the text and images are really engaging. I enjoyed reading this to Elsie the first time we read the story, but she’s also very happy, at age six, to now sit and read it to herself too which is great.

As a mum I also personally loved the fact that the main character is brave, kind and adventurous, all characteristics I hope to nurture in Elsie as she grows up and the story – which is ideal for either gender – certainly makes a refreshing change from the typical princess type stories that are often used for girls.

Whenever I buy a book for someone, I always like to leave a little personal message in at the front and so I was also really thrilled to see that Librio also give you the option to leave a child a special message or dedication at the front of the book too, to help you add just that touch more magic.

I’m so happy that Elsie now has her very own special personalised book to enjoy and hopefully cherish for many years to come and I’m really impressed with how easy it was to create this one for her with Librio, a company that prides itself on strong ethics too.

All books are printed on high quality recycled paper and printed with award-winning sustainable printers. Plus for every single book sold, Librio plant a tree with Trees for the Future and donate £1 to literacy charities. (Librio are a company passionate about encouraging children to develop a love of books which warms all the cockles of my heart!)

If like me, you’re yet to start any Christmas shopping, then taking a look at the lovely Librio personalised book is a very good place to start.
