27 WEEKS! (AND COUNTING)

UNBELIEVABLY I am now 27 weeks pregnant, which as my phone baby app told me the other day, now also means I am ‘officially in my third trimester’.

Wow.

I’ve said it a few times but it’s true, this pregnancy is going by so quickly and I’m becoming well aware that before I know it (all being well) my baby boy will be here.

I’m at that point where I really want to try and slow time down a bit, but of course I don’t have those super powers, so instead I’m determined to try and make the most of it instead. For the next three months I am going to try and savour every moment. Every kick, every wriggle, every change.

This is more than likely my last pregnancy (although I’m already thinking hmmmm, perhaps a baby no.3 would be lovely! Am I bonkers?!) so it’s definitely time to soak it all up and that means documenting it more too.

So with that in mind, I’ve decided I’m going to do a regular pregnancy update. (Hopefully fortnightly!) I haven’t done this previously (although I have shared some of the highlights) but now i’m in the third trimester I just think it will be a really lovely thing to do and to look back on.

Some here it is. My 27 week update. Here’s to the final hurdle!

(My questions are inspired by the wonderful Cider with Rosie, whose blog is just beautiful.)

How far along:  27 weeks and 3 days. Baby is now the size of a cauliflower according to my ‘phone app’ however feels – to me – much larger. I’m honestly not sure how much bigger my bump can get!

Days until due date: 89!

Weight change:  No idea, I can’t remember the last time I weighed myself but bump is most definitely getting bigger by the day.

Stretchmarks?  None yet but I’m well aware this could change. I’ve been using all kinds of lotions and potions to try and avoid them though, you can catch some of my favourites here if you fancy.

Cravings?  Yep. Oranges and red wine at the moment. The ‘orange’ bit is fine, lovely in fact but craving red wine? Well let’s be honest, it’s absolute torture. *sobs*

Symptoms?  My old familiar friend Gaviscon is back in my life these days as daily heartburn pays me a visit. But bar that and a bit of occasional back pain and exhaustion (I’m much more tired this time around), I’m feeling really, really well. *keeps fingers crossed this continues*

Sleep?  So far, pretty good. Bar my daily early morning toilet trip, I’m doing OK on the sleep front and with Elsie off school currently, I actually got a lie in this morning until 6.40am. Winning huh?

Movement?  Baby is really active now! I’ve gone from feeling strong kicks to watching my stomach move as he does, which really is quite something. He generally responds well to little tummy rubs, cold water and singing (Elsie’s not mine!).

Belly button – in or out?  Definitely out!

Wedding rings – on or off?  So far, still on.

Best moment this week?  Elsie thanking me for carrying her baby brother! Oh and the husband making a start on the nursery too. The walls are nearly painted…

Best style moment this week?  So hard to chose but probably this new maternity dress that is an absolute bargain from ASOS and so comfy to wear, plus very ‘autumnal’. (I’ve also loved my new maternity dungarees kindly sent to me from Jojo Maman Bebe – I’ll show them off soon – and my new gorgeous cape from La Redoute which means I’ve finally found a winter coat that fits!)

Worst moment this week?  Overwhelming tiredness and feeling incredibly emotional a couple of days ago. I wasn’t really like this when I was pregnant with Elsie, but with this pregnancy, I could cry at the drop of a hat!

Miss anything?  Yes, red wine!

Looking forward to?  Getting my Anti D jab out of the way next week (I’m Rhesus negative blood group wise,  so always need to have this in pregnancy) and my bump shoot with the wonderful Masque Photography in a couple of weeks.

Mood?  Fantastic. Generally I’m the happiest I’ve ever been! (Apart from when I’m being a tad emotional and weepy that is. Just call me waterworks. *winks*)

  • It must be so annoying craving red wine when you can’t have any! I’m terrible for craving certain types of food and drink all the time and I’m not pregnant so goodness knows what I will be like when I do decide to have a baby!

  • You look gorgeous and sounds like pregnancy is going amazingly. I totally miss feeling Oscar wriggling around inside! I totally get you with the third baby thing! Oscar is most probably my last but I published a post today with my thoughts on whether I’m actually done or not! I feel like I could just keep going even though two is already exhausting haha! Babies are just amazing aren’t they?! xx

    • Thanks so much Lisa. It’s funny isn’t it? I’m aware it is probably my last pregnancy but not sure if I can handle the thought of that?! As you say, babies are just amazing and I love the thought of our family getting bigger. (Although am also aware of how much work it will bring!) X
