THINGS TO DO IN FLORIDA

*This post was created in collaboration with American Attractions*

For many parents and families, visiting Florida is right at the top of their holiday bucket list.  Most kids are obsessed with the idea of visiting Walt Disney World, but even for parents, this hugely popular Sunshine State offers plenty to see and do.

If you’re considering taking a trip to Florida but aren’t quite sure if you’ll get tired of all the theme parks or are wondering what other things you can do, here are some things to consider before you consider booking that expensive family holiday of a lifetime.

Visit Orlando

If you’re going to Florida as a family, Orlando has to be on the list for the obvious reason – this is where Walt Disney World is! This city is renowned for it’s theme parks so get involved and make the most of it, even if you just pop along for a day. (The kids really will love you forever!)

Before you go, budget (these theme parks aren’t cheap!) and make sure you buy your Orlando park tickets before you visit as this will save you a huge heap of cash.

Try the Florida lifestyle

Florida is a vast state but if you’re looking for a real taste of the Florida lifestyle, do consider visiting places like Tampa or Fort Laurerdale. At Tampa you’ll find some great restaurants and bars as well as cool urban parks and even a Riverwalk that attracts people of all ages. And if beaches are your thing, then you won’t go wrong with Fort Laurerdale which offers stunning sandy beaches as well as dining and shopping in spades. Also consider enjoying the Florida lifestyle with a Palm Bay party bus ride, for a memory you’ll never forget.

Get away from the hustle and bustle

If you can, try and squeeze in some time whilst in Florida to get away from the craziness of the theme parks and the business of the major cities to relax. Quieter places such as Cape Coral  and Pensacola offer perfect places to chill out a little. Plus if you’re a golfer, you will love their top-notch golf courses!

Palm Bay is also a great place to visit with the kids, not only for its beaches but because of its brilliant nature trails that are said to be the best in the state.

Party in Miami

Granted this may not be possible if you’re a parent, but if you’re travelling with other relatives or going with friends, do consider squeezing in a trip to this infamous American city especially if you’ve got older teenagers! They’ll think you’re the coolest parents in the town if you take them to this hip, cultural city and hey who knows, you might even get to let your hair down a little too. Fingers crossed.
