THE COST OF DECLUTTERING YOUR HOME: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Decluttering your home: a simple job that won’t cost you much? It depends on what you’ve got to do! Because the true cost of clearing out your rooms might be much heavier than you first thought; you’ve got a lot of bags and boxes and antibac wipes to stock up on! Aside from that, you may even need a professional hand to get the job done properly. So, with all that in mind, here are some costs you’ll want to keep an eye on as you get organised.

You’ll Need More Cleaning Supplies Than You Think

If you’re going through your whole home, you’re going to want some gloves, plenty of rubbish bags, some donation and/or packing boxes, and some cleaning items for picking up dust and old debris that’s hiding under all the clutter piles. And the cost of clearing the shelves in the home aisle? You’re probably going to need more than the £20 you’re planning to spend at the max!

You Might Want to Store Some Items for Ease

Self storage is very useful for anyone decluttering. If you can invest in storage solutions that are local to you, you’ll have a home away from home that’ll give you much more space to work with.

Anything you don’t want to hold in your home anymore, but you’re still not sure what to do with, whack it into a storage unit! However, the cost usually starts around £50, and that’s usually per week, so you’ll want to make the decision as early as you can.

You Could Hire a Professional

Hiring a professional to help you declutter your house is a last resort for a lot of people. When you’ve not done a good clear out for a good few years, you’ll probably need some industrial action to get everything out of the house. It’s good news if there’s someone there to lend a helping hand!

But hiring someone to help is going to be at least £30 to £40 per day. However, any professional clearers are going to be very efficient at what they do, so you’ll probably only need their services for a couple days at most.

You Might Not Make a Profit Off of Anything

If you’re planning to clear out to make a bit of extra cash, always keep in mind that there might not be anything worthy in the clutter you move. You could put it all up on Ebay, or take it to a boot sale and set up a stall, but you still only might bring home £5.

Before you get started with clearing out, make sure this isn’t the one thing you’re banking on. You might not turn much of a profit, especially with the starting costs, and then you’ll have to account for shipping and delivery on top.

Decluttering your home, ironically, can actually turn out to be quite expensive. Make sure you’re ready for costs like these before you put on your gloves.
