Skint Yet Stylish: Look Good Every Day Without Spending a Fortune

Clothes are great, as well as being functional they can also allow us to showcase our style and express our personality. We all know how it feels when we’re wearing an outfit we love, there’s nothing quite like the confidence boost it brings. However, clothes can be expensive and we’re not all in a position to be able to afford lots of new outfits every season. If that’s the case for you, here are some of the ways you can make your budget go further and still look great every day.

Choose versatile staples

If you don’t have the money or inclination to be shopping for new clothes every few weeks, one of the best thing you can do is invest in some versatile staples. Classic dresses, jeans and tops that can be mixed and match, and be dressed up and down. The sort of pieces that can be adapted to be worn lots of ways and have many outfits created from them by switching up shoes, jackets and accessories. Take a navy skater dress for example, in the evening it could be worn with heels, a blazer and jewellery for a glam look. It could worn with tights, flat boots and a leather jacket for a smart casual look. It could be worn with a cardigan, ballet pumps and leggings for everyday wear, or on a warm summers day with sandals and a floppy hat. If you have a number of pieces in your wardrobe like this, you have plenty of outfit ideas without needing excessive amounts of clothes.

Use vouchers, sales & discounts

Why pay full price when you can get a chunk of money taken off just by entering a code? Sales, deals and discounts can all keep costs down while still allowing you to buy the items you want, you could check out this blog on ways to dress outrageously by using vouchers. A quick search online before checking out is all you need to do, and whether it’s a percentage off, free shipping or cashback, it’s money that’s in your pocket for very little effort.

Check out charity shops

You might not be able to find you whole wardrobe at a charity shop, but if you check in whenever you walk past one you could well find the occasional hidden gem. Something either new or hardly worn that’s just your size and costs just a few pounds- what could be better? As well as getting a new item for your wardrobe you’re helping out a charity too and reducing waste. Swap parties are another option, ask your group of friends to bring along clothes they no longer wear and you can all then go through each others and hopefully find something to keep.

Search budget shops

There are lots of places you can buy clothes cheaply on the high street. Places like Primark and Matalan have items for just a few pounds each, as do supermarkets. It’s well worth checking ebay too, along with ex catalogue shops like TK Maxx.
