How to Make Your Home More Organised: Four Tips

We all want to make the right impression when expecting guests, but living with kids means that there are always things lying around. If you find it hard to keep everything organised, and find all those toys and shoes the right place, you will need to think smarter. From clever storage ideas to furniture with multiple functions and additional space, there are plenty of ways you can improve your home on a budget and help everyone find everything quickly. Find a few tips below.

Sort Out Your Hallway

One of the most crowded place for families is the hallway. This is where everyone takes their shoes off, puts them on, and leaves their coat. If you don’t have a hallway furniture that hides all the jackets, school uniforms, and spare shoes, when you step in your home you will face chaos. Make sure that you choose a design that provides a seat for the little ones to change and put on their shoes, and hides away the toys and the shoes not currently in use.

Add a Porch

If you simply don’t have enough space in the hallway to keep all the coats, jackets, umbrellas, and shoes, you might consider adding a porch. It will not only add space, but also add an extra layer of insulation to your home, which will help you save money on your heating bills. You will not immediately cool down your home when you open the front door and try to get the kids to get in. Check out County Home Improvers to get an idea of the different designs available.

Upgrade Your Storage

If you only have a couple of shelves in the hallway and the living room, you might want to add a sideboard that will hide away all your paperwork and your spare items. A sliding door mirrored wardrobe (even built in) can improve your storage immediately and help you make the most out of your space, while optically enlarging the room.

Alternatively, you can change your bed and add a storage divan base with drawers, so you have space for those extra blankets and pillows you use for the kids’ sleepovers.

Multifunctional Furniture

Apart from the built in storage, such as the under-stairs cabinet and the cupboard next to your boiler, you can add more space by turning your furniture into multifunctional storage. In case you are short of space in your living room, you might opt for a home improvement that makes the best use of the little alcoves and corners of the room.

Use the space next to your fireplace and chimney to build a stunning shelving unit. You might also want to get extra seating in the room by buying storage pouffe and coffee tables.

It is challenging to stay organized when you have little kids in the house. Get creative and find a space where you can hide away the toys and clothes left behind by the children when you are expecting guests.
