WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT SCARBOROUGH

With the world as it currently is (dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic), it’s perhaps only natural that our attention in regards to holidays this year, will more than likely concentrate on our own island.

So if you’re looking for somewhere closer to home to take your family when everything calms down, let me recommend one of our favourite UK places to you – Scarborough, the much-loved seaside town.

Never been? Fret not. Here’s why you should head to this much loved coastal destination and book your hotels in Scarborough.

It’s a classic British seaside town

I’ve been to a number of seaside towns in the UK and in my humble opinion, Scarborough is one of, if not the very best. It offers absolutely everything you’d expect or hope for, if you’re looking for this kind of break or day out. A fantastic beach, traditional amusement arcades, donkey rides, beach huts, plenty of bucket and spade shops and yep, the most delicious fish and chips.

The kids will love it and if it doesn’t bring out the child in you too, well to be frank I’d be astonished.

It offers more than just beaches

Scarborough beaches are fantastic, golden, vast and sandy. Yes they get busy at peak holiday time as you’d expect, but they’re also never ridiculously overcrowded.

However as glorious as the town’s beaches are, what makes Scarborough stand out amongst all of our seaside towns to me, is the fact that this Yorkshire gem offers much more than just that.

It has a magnificent castle, there is a sea life sanctuary where you can help feed seals their breakfast and a dream of a museum packed full of treasures that your kids will find fascinating. There’s also a water park and a miniature railway.

All of which means there’s plenty to see and do, whatever the weather and whatever you fancy, whenever you go and visit.

It has charm in spades

Scarborough is a beautiful looking coastal town. Traditional yes, but in the very best sense. Built up on the cliffs, it has stunning views, gorgeous scenery and a Victorian quaintness about it which only adds to it’s allure.

If a traditional British seaside town isn’t your thing, then it probably won’t be for you (although I’d still say give it a whirl for a day out at least) but if it is or you’re looking for a place that will tick lots of different boxes for your family this year, then go and see it for yourself.

Believe me, I’m from Lancashire originally and if I can go and fall in love with this seaside town in Yorkshire, well then anyone can. (And more than likely will.)
