The language of legs…

MY legs are one of my best assets so I tend to ‘show them off’ in skinny jeans, dresses and fabulous high heels. However I’ve never thought about what my legs may actually be saying about me… that is until now. The clever people at Lycra have carried out a study into the language of legs in celebration of a new trend for ‘nude’ tights as  famously worn by the

Review: Maternity reflexology by Bumps Sheffield

Here’s a review I recently carried out for The Modern Girl’s Guide: Maternity reflexology by Bumps in Sheffield. LAST week I did something incredibly brave… I let a lady touch my feet. Now to you, that might not sound like a big deal, but for me, usually, the very thought of anyone touching my feet is enough to make me want to run a mile! But, early on Monday morning, I

Things I’ve loved this week…

It’s appreciation Sunday! Here’s what I’ve loved this week… 1) My first reflexology treatment – On Monday I did the unthinkable. I let someone touch my feet! Normally this would bring me out in hives (I’ve only ever had one pedicure, for my wedding and that was torture) but yet strangely it didn’t bother me one bit! The experience was fabulous and provided some much needed pregnancy relaxation. I’ll be

Happy International Women’s Day!…

TODAY is International Women’s Day – a day of celebration and reflection for women across the world! There’s no doubt that us ladies still have many obstacles to cross and huge hurdles to get by, on our way to true equality, happiness and peace. We can only continue to strive passionately for change, to make the most of ourselves and the opportunities that come our way and of course, have

Things I’ve loved this week…

HERE’S what I’ve loved this week. A little bit of ‘Pouting In Heels’ appreciation if you like ;-) 1) The Oscar frocks – forget about the awards, it was ALL about the dresses for me. My favourites included Penelope Cruz who was beautiful as always in Armani, Gwyneth Paltrow looking sleek and futuristic in Tom Ford and Natalie Portman, a true ‘yummy mummy’ in a vintage number. 2) Feeling baby

Me and my (ahem) award winning pout!…

THERE are times in life when you just have to put your ‘money where you mouth is’, or in this case put your ‘pout where you mouth is.’ (If you know what I mean.) So when I saw a competition by Meadowhall Shopping Centre to find Yorkshire’s best pout/most luscious lips, naturally, I had to enter! After all, if you say you’re known for your pout, you’ve kinda gotta prove

My first trimester experience…

BEFORE I begin, I just want to make one thing clear – I’m delighted that I’m pregnant and am eternally grateful that this amazing, most wondrous thing is happening to me. I really and truly am. I’m now 20 weeks pregnant and seeing my baby’s heart beating on screen last week was a moment I’ll never forget. I’m not even the tiniest bit at all embarrassed to admit that I

How to get hair worthy of the Oscars …

Here’s a challenge I recently carried out for The Modern Girl’s Guide – Can we create red carpet hair at home? TONIGHT is the greatest night in the Hollywood calendar. The night when the great and good come out in force. It is of course Oscar time.  The female stars will be undoubtedly looking stunning, made up to perfection by a team of stylists, make-up artists and hair magicians. But what about the rest
