WHEN it comes to the British High Street, there is no greater shopping institution – in my book – than our amazing M&S.
I say ‘OUR’ because I honestly cannot imagine a life without M&S. I mean, can you?
It’s as British to me as fish & chips, pints of ale and cosy pubs. A real institution. And so, who better to represent the classy giant of the high street this coming season than another British institution, the rather fabulous and talented Anna Chancellor. A brilliant actress known mostly for her role as Duckface in Four Weddings And A Funeral.
With an illustrious family background – her aunt was Jane Austen (can you imagine?!) – and a beguiling mixture of beauty, wit, warmth and charm, Anna is a pretty perfect model for the latest M&S collection in my humble opinion.
And although she may describe her style as ‘scruffy’, in this lovely little film, she couldn’t look less of that if she tried as she showcases some classic threads from the AW14 range, in the pretty and historic seaside town of Hastings where she lives.
From chunky knits to tailored pants, chic blouses to classic accessories, Anna shows off the collection with aplomb as she discusses everything from motherhood to her successful acting career.
I’ve already got my eyes on the rather scrumptious navy cashmere jumper she wears. A sure fire classic piece of knitwear if ever I’ve seen one! (And great for pale skinned brunettes like moi!)
Later this year, she’ll also be joining the cast of the Downtown Abbey, the country’s favourite costume drama, so you can bet your bottom dollar we’ll be seeing plenty more of Anna’s lovely face this Autumn.
For now though, I’m happy just watching and listening to her in this charming short film. A ‘free spirit’ she certainly is, but she’s also pretty damn wonderful too isn’t she?
With love (and pouts)
