AFTER a week of being housebound with germs, getting outside at the weekend was a must. A chance to blow off some cobwebs. A chance to visit somewhere we’ve never been. (Even though it’s practically right on our doorstep.) After a relaxing Saturday morning watching films (and crying at the beginning of UP!) we ventured out to Monk Bretton Priory – a ruined medieval priory, less than 10 mins away
I LOVE afternoon tea and am beginning to consider myself quite the connoisseur. From nibbling sandwiches at The Ritz to drinking fizz at Harvey Nichols, I have indulged in many afternoon teas over the past few years and as a result I have high standards. High standards indeed. A bit like men, I expect them to deliver, to have the wow factor, to amuse and make me smack my lips
I MAY not be Barnsley ‘born and bred’, but I’ve lived here for quite a few years now. It’s my home sweet home and I like it very much. So with that in mind for today’s Friday Five, I thought I’d do my bit for local tourism and share my top five ‘must visit’ places you need to experience in this incredibly friendly and really quite beautiful South Yorkshire town.
