MY STYLE: A sunny Saturday in double denim & new heels
ON Saturday the sun was out in full force and boy oh boy didn’t it feel good?!
Admittedly it was a little chilly when out of the sunshine, but nevertheless it was bloomin’ gorgeous. In total honesty, I’ve been waiting for a decent sunny day for a long time. And not just because I am in desperate need of some cheering up right up now.
But because, well, I’ve been dying to wear a new pair of heels and give them their first outing. Gorgeous shoes always put a big, fat smile on my face, especially when they’re new and just begging to be worn!
I teamed my new Joe Browns shoes with a pair of my beloved skinny jeans from Boohoo (I’ve mentioned before how this online retailer sells the best skinny jeans EVER) a summery chiffon and lace top from ASOS and an old wardrobe favourite, my denim shirt which I never ever tire of wearing.
Bag wise, I had a rummage in my closet and came across this little multi coloured beaded beauty that I bought from T K Maxx about six years ago and had completely forgotten about. Oh and because I always feel bare if I’m not wearing jewellery, I popped some beaded hoops on too. From Topshop, in a sale. I think.
And what did I think of my new shoes? Well, it’s still early days in our relationship, but I gotta tell you I’m pretty smitten. They could even be, I suspect, my perfect summer shoe.
They are high, no doubt about that, but thankfully the sturdy heel and ankle strap allow me to walk rather gracefully in them. Which is always good let’s face it. And it also means they are safe to wear when I’m in mummy mode! Hurrah! The neutral colour means I will be able to wear them with pretty much anything – from maxi dresses to my beloved skinnies – and I love, love, LOVE the raffia mix heel! Just gorgeous!
What’s more, besides a little expected discomfort breaking in a new shoe, they seem quite comfy too. All in all, weather dependent, it’s safe to say I’ll be bringing out these bad boys on many an occasion this season. So come on sunshine, don’t let me down.
And I know what you’re thinking. Double denim? You what?! Well, what can I say folks, some rules are just meant to be broken.
P.S Elsie decided rather than just watch Mummy prance around the garden, she wanted to get in on the action too. And who can blame her?
Here she is in her Easter bonnet hat that she insisted on wearing. Bearing in mind it took me a while to stick on all of the numerous rabbits and chickens, I gotta tell you, I am loving the fact that she actually still wants to wear it. Mini fashionista, eat your heart out.
Have a wonderful week!
Katie
*Disclaimer – Joe Browns kindly sent me the shoes as a gift. Thank you Joe Browns! You’ve made a busy mummy very happy!
