My little blog is one year old! I cannot quite believe it!

The last 12 months have been very eventful on a personal level. Those of you who visit this blog will know that I gave birth to my amazing daughter Elsie Florence back in July. I also moved house (with a seven week old baby!) just a few months after so in all honesty I’m amazed to be sat here, actually still writing.

When I started this blog last February, I didn’t have any plan or real aims (and yes I know, I really need to sort this out).

All I knew was that I wanted to write more personal stuff and I wanted to connect with people. As a freelance journalist I’m always writing features and the like, but I wanted to use this blog to write differently, truthfully and from my heart.

Like most women, I’m tired of the expectations and pressure that are put upon our wonderful beings, every single day. As women, we are constantly bombarded with messages that we’re not pretty enough, slim enough, good enough etc and so if I do have one aim, it is to help women feel better about themselves. Why? Because this kind of female bashing has to stop.

Besides my heartfelt posts or rants, I also love writing fashion and style posts too. Mainly because I love pretty things! But also because it’s good to share. We all need some inspiration from time to time.

When I started this blog, I just hoped I’d manage – what with everything going on – to keep it going and 12 months on, here I still am! :)

My highlights have included being nominated for a MAD Blog award in the Best Writer category (if you’d like to vote for me, you still can here) which was a wonderful surprise, connecting with talented folk and incredible brands and realising that people really do enjoy what I write! I never ever tire of receiving comments or feedback.

I’ve also learned that I’d much rather blog less but blog better and post interesting and useful stuff instead of just any old nonsense.

Working on this blog has been a slog at times but I’ve honestly enjoyed every minute.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement. To anyone who has paid this ol’ blog of mine a visit, left a comment, retweeted one of my blog links or got in touch from time to time, thank you, thank you, thank you.

It truly does make my day when a post i’ve written connects with someone, in some way. It is the ONLY reason I do it.
