HOW TO MAKE AN APEROL SPRITZ (PIH STYLE)
WHO’S up for learning how to make a new boozy drink this weekend?
You are?
Brilliant. Let’s get on with the show then.
If you haven’t yet tried an Aperol Spritz yet, then all I can say is, ladies (and gents) you haven’t lived.
This drink was the drink of the summer, known and loved by the most discerning drinkers. And today I’m going to share with you all, how to make one!
It’s delicious, it’s easy and it sure packs a pleasant punch.
Trust me you are going to love it!
If you haven’t heard of Aperol (and don’t worry I hadn’t either), then firstly, let me introduce you.
Aperol may fast be becoming the drink of the moment, however this award-winning Italian aperitif was actually first created back in 1919 in Padua. A mix of bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb and cinchona, you can enjoy it on the rocks or as the fruity and refreshing cocktail, the Aperol Spritz.
Sounds good doesn’t it?
Well here’s how you can make one.
You will need:
- Aperol
- Prosecco
- Soda water
- An orange
- Ice
- Large wine glass
First get your wine glass nice and chilled and pop in a few cubes of ice and chunks of orange.
Then, for all the bubbles, pour in around three parts of Prosecco.
Follow by adding a decent splash of Aperol, two parts.
Finally top up with some soda water, about one part.
And then voila! Taste and enjoy!
I have to say it’s a really lovely drink and has fast become a new favourite of mine.
Could this be the end of my love affair with the Cosmo?! Probably not, but this is an ideal drink for a hot summer’s day or to enjoy with friends.
I like mine with lots of orange in (to add lots of fruitiness) and I like to drink it when I’m dolled up to the nines, at the start of an evening out.
Here I am waiting for my lovely friend Helen from Masque Photography to arrive a few weeks ago. (And yes her drink was all ready and waiting for her when she arrived. What can I say, I’m a good pal!)
Drinking this delicious Italian cocktail at the start of an evening…well folks, if that’s not living La Dolce Vita in not so sunny Barnsley, I don’t know what is.
*winks*
Try it, I think you will really, really like it.
With love (& hiccups),
Kate
