I’VE had this little kit for a good few months now and so this is probably the longest I’ve ever taken to write up a review of anything!

But it’s all for a very good reason.

Because if I’m to give you a totally honest review of this kit which claims to save women’s pregnant tummies from those dreaded stretch marks, then I needed to do it justice. I needed to use it for a long time before I typed away and wrote anything.

And so I did. I’ve used the Secret Saviours Anti Stretch Mark kit pretty religiously for a good 3-4 months and now at 37 weeks pregnant (more on that tomorrow!) I feel it’s finally time to let you all know my thoughts.

But before I do, let’s introduce you to it…

WHAT IS IT?

The Secret Saviours kit features three products – an anti stretch mark band, a day gel and a night cream.

The idea is that during the day you pop on the day gel and wear the band under your clothes as you go about your business before taking it off at night and rubbing in the night cream. Easy as that!

SO WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?

The patented anti stretch mark band is an ingenious piece of attire for your growing bump. Lined with special pads that help to reduce the stresses and strains of pregnancy, the band works by protecting your bump and making it difficult for stretch marks to form.

Add to this the two lovely products which smell amazing and feel luxurious and you have a very special product for mums to be.

And there’s some stats to back it all up too. Secret Saviours is the only scientifically proven system shown to work to prevent stretch marks forming in up to 70% of women and in 2 % of women that did get stretch marks, they were vastly reduced in number and appearance. Sounds good huh?

SO DOES IT WORK?

Well for me…yes and no. Let me explain.

Am I stretch mark free? (The million dollar question.) At 37 weeks, no sadly not.

I was until around two weeks ago (35 weeks) with the only marks on my tummy being a few faint existing ones from my previous pregnancy but then I noticed a few new stretch marks appear almost overnight which is no surprise really considering how big my bump is now and the shape of it. (Think of a basketball stuffed under a top and you kinda get the idea!)

What’s fascinating though (at least for me) is that in my first pregnancy I had a couple of stretch marks appear quite early on at around 24 weeks. Whereas this time around I went a whole lot longer without any appearing whatsoever.

And that’s not all.

The stretch marks I do have this time are few and far between. I have around four smallish lines on the front of my bump (towards the right) and a few teeny tiny marks around my hips. And that’s it. That’s my lot.

Nothing major. Nothing to get upset about. Just a few little dark lines.

It’s worth mentioning that in my first pregnancy, I didn’t suffer too badly from stretch marks either in comparison to lots of women I know and love. But there was definitely more of them and they were definitely in more places.

So do I think it worked? Absolutely, yes!

Sure it hasn’t helped me stay stretch mark free completely but hand on heart, I believe it’s most definitely helped. The few minor stretch marks I have now are nothing to worry about at all and are in only a couple of places which in comparison to my first pregnancy, is a noticeable improvement.

And there’s more.

Weirdly I’ve noticed that if I forget to wear the bump band for a day, the stretch marks I have actually appear to go slightly darker. But then when I wear the band the next day, yep you guessed it, they go fainter. Make of that what you will!

All in all, as a heavily pregnant woman, I have to say I’m pretty thrilled with the results. Bar a few little lines, my bump is smooth, soft and mostly unmarked which is good enough for me.

ANYTHING ELSE?

Yes, just a couple of things.

First, I need to tell you the day gel and night cream smell amazing! Like really amazing, luxurious products that you’ll enjoy wearing time and time again. (The day gel can feel a bit sticky when you first apply it but it’s worth noting that it has been designed to, to help stick the band to your bump for greater protection.)

And as for the band? Well this is the real saviour of the kit in my opinion as it’s just fabulous. Not only has it helped to stop stretch marks forming, but it’s also really helped me carry around a huge ball of a bump (people are forever commenting how I’m carrying all up front!) and given my dodgy back some much needed support also.

It is quite pricey (£69.95 for the kit) but in my opinion it’s well worth the money.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I’ve loved using the Secret Saviours Anti Stretch mark Kit and even though I’m not totally stretch mark free, I’m a firm believer that it has definitely helped me.

Stretch marks in pregnancy are of course normal and very, very common but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to make them ‘less normal’ or keep them at bay. Nor does it mean that we ‘should’ have to put up with them.

I’ve been lucky – both times now – that my pregnancies have only left a few lingering reminders on my tummy which are hardly visible, but I know for many women, stretch marks can leave them feeling low, unattractive and thoroughly depressed about their bodies.

Every mum to be deserves to feel fantastic about their changing shape, to love and celebrate their beautiful bumps and even those pesky lines that may come with them which is why a product like this is an absolute godsend.

The Secret Saviours kit helps women to love their pregnancy and post natal bodies, so for me it’s an absolute must have.
