GUEST POST: WHY MORE WOMEN SHOULD DRIVE

IT’S great to see how more and more women are not only entering the working world, but also getting in the driving seat.

The situation has really been helped by the fact car dealerships are shifting their purchase experience away from a complex, male-dominated environment, to a more transparent and diverse customer base.

When it comes to the approach of online dealership Carspring, it’s clear that e-commerce is paving the way in providing a female-friendly experience. It’s all about being open, giving everyone confidence and providing a stress-free process.

Fundamentally, it boils down to the fact that buying online is simply far less intimidating. Gone are the pushy salesmen in cheap polyester suits. Gone is that awkward test drive moment. Gone is the nagging doubt you’ve bought a piece of junk. It allows you to get a car without bothering with the usual macho mumbo jumbo of used car dealerships.

Beyond just the buying process, there are plenty of other reasons that sisters should take to the road. Carspring reached out to me with a top five list of why more women should drive:

1) WOMEN LOOK BETTER & DRIVE BETTER

Firstly, not only do women look very stylish in the driver’s seat but we have also been shown to be better drivers! Research has indicated women are more cautious with regards to speed, more likely to stop at a red light and more likely to indicate when turning a corner.

2) A CAR IS A TOOL FOR INDEPENDENCE

Women everywhere are becoming wealthier and more independent. Bearing this in mind, it has been shown that women tend to connect the car purchase to a feeling of freedom and independence.

A car is a tool for empowerment, you can go anywhere and do whatever you want to do. It puts you in control! Think Thelma & Louise.

3) JOIN THE TREND

This year is the year when women are expected to exceed the number of men on the UK’s roads… for the first time! We think it’s now crucial for women to prove this prediction right and get behind the wheel more often.

4) YOU DON’T NEED A MAN TO LEARN

The driving world isn’t a man’s world. To promote more females drivers, there’s now the option of taking driving lessons through female driving schools.

These women-only lessons provide a comfortable environment for you to learn at your own pace, while making you feel completely safe and secure. For example, check out: the Female Driving School and Ladies 1st driving School.

5) BECAUSE YOU CAN

Last and not least, not every woman around the world can get the opportunity to drive. Unfortunately Saudi Arabia is a sad example of this.

However, by encouraging female drivers in other parts of the world, we can pave the way to inspire and boost for change in countries where it is still unacceptable.
