FRIDAY FIVE: Things I’ve LOVED this week…

DSC02607

IT’S always good to show some gratitude and celebrate the fabulousness which is all around us.

So taking a little time to reflect on what I’ve loved this week, here is today’s Friday Five!

* Cocktails and chatter with an inspiring pal

On Wednesday night I spent a few wonderful hours catching up with a lovely friend over a cocktail – a cosmopolitan, my absolute favourite.

The evening reminded me how good it feels to chat positively about life and adventures with someone who is exactly on the same wavelength as you. Especially whilst lesiurely sipping a divine drink.

Lesson learnt? Fabulous cocktails and genuinely inspiring conversation will never go out of style.

* Amazing skincare products that don’t cost the earth

Thanks to my good blogger friends over at I Am Into This I have discovered the incredible new skincare range ‘Super Facialist By Una Brennan’ this week.

A rave review from Theresa about the wonders of the Rose Hydrate Radiance Day Cream SP15 was enough to make me part with some cash and saw me shelling out for both this cream and the brand’s Neroli Firming Illuminate Eye Cream.

It’s early days but I have to say, I am already smitten with both the products. I’ve seen a noticeable difference already in my skin and absolutely love the fact that the products feel luxurious but yet don’t cost a small fortune.

Want to try them for yourself? Head over to Boots and give them a whirl. (You’ve no excuse, the products are on offer right now!) I’d love to hear what you think. And thank you Theresa!

* Getting crafty for Elsie’s christening

My little lady gets christened next weekend so for the last week or so I’ve been busy doing all sorts in preparation for her ‘big day’.

From bespoking her christening shoes to making bunting to help decorate the venue, I’ve really enjoyed being creative and am more than a bit proud of my achievements.

Keep your eyes out for my ‘how to make the easiest bunting in the world’ post, coming very soon. So simple, you won’t even need to use a needle or thread!

* An interview with Kate Moss

This week I finally found half an hour to sit down with a cuppa and read a rare Kate Moss interview that was featured in the December issue of Vanity Fair. (Yes, I know I’m months behind!)

I’ve always been a Kate Moss fan and the article was, as I’d hoped, a fascinating insight into her world and the enigma that IS Kate Moss.

This quote in particular I loved. Praise indeed from a fellow journalist.

“I don’t remember as a journalist, writing about anyone else as powerful and famous who was liked without exception or condition by everyone I spoke to, even if they were talking off the record, or who was praised as much by those she worked with. No one even seems to hate her because she’s beautiful or very rich.”

And this one too, from George Michael:

“I think she lives her life as she wants to live her life.”

Words for us all to live by, don’t you think?

* My ‘metal’ photo gift

A few weeks ago I was asked if I would like to receive a gift from The Metal Picture Company, of a photo of Elsie printed on metal. Yes I repeat, metal.

It sounded too good an opportunity to pass up and so I politely said yes, even though I was a little skeptical as to how it would turn out.

Well folks, my photo arrived this week and what can I say, but it’s beautiful! Printed on high gloss aluminium, the photo is sleek and sharp and looks fantastic on my mantelpiece.

And here’s the best bit, thanks to the specialist coating, the photo is resistant to fading, stains, moisture and scratches and you can even wipe it clean! Genius I tell you, genius.

My full review will be coming soon for the Modern Mum’s Guide. In the meantime, you can find out all the info you need to at metalpicturecompany.com

What have you fallen in love with this week?!

Till the next time, look around you in awe!

Katie
