A VELVET LITTLE BLACK DRESS FOR CHRISTMAS
I’M sat here surrounded by gift wrap and festive mess…
So it seems only right that I share with you another festive style post today!
A little more low key than my previous post, but still suitably Christmassy, today’s post was inspired by comfort.
Yes folks, comfort.
Because whilst I do love a heavy dose of glamour in my wardrobe, when it comes to stuffing my face with Christmas food and drinking enough booze to sink a small boat (it did used to be ship, but I’m growing up) the last thing I want – need – is to feel uncomfortable.
It’s true isn’t it? When we are ready to enjoy a festive feast, comfort is the key.
Which is why I’ve opted to show off this little velvet black number (similar to this maxi version) from Precis Petite!
It’s soft, it’s stroke-able and is effortless to wear.
The embellishment around the neckline is also so pretty and just right for this time of year, not too much, but enough, to show that you’re thinking ‘festive’.
Fitted yet flattering, I’m thinking this is a Christmas lunch kind of frock (if like me, you like to dress up for the ocassion) or something suitable to wear when you’re out for a few daytime tipples.
Due to it’s fitted nature, this dress needs a high heel though.
Which for me is fine, I’m never happier than when my footwear naturally forces me to strut (!) but maybe not for everyone.
(Although to be fair I reckon it could still work with some ridiculously huge slippers in the comfort of your home, as you sit on the sofa and tuck into a box of Roses.)
Here I’ve teamed the frock with some super high black stilettos with cut out detail, a recent New Look buy from ASOS that are not comfortable in the least sadly but look ace.
Some delicate drop earrings from one of my favourite jewellery sites YOSA and some red lips because you know, it’s Christmas!
It’s a timeless kind of look I reckon.
A little bit ‘old school’ glamour, womanly yet family friendly, it is in my most humble opinion, the perfect kind of Christmas Day outfit.
(If that is, you can be bothered to get out of your pyjamas. And I totally wouldn’t blame you if you don’t.)

What will you be wearing on Christmas Day this year? Do you get dressed up for dinner like moi or are you more about a good Christmas jumper?!
With love,
Kate

You look great in this dress – I think Precis offer some really good classics. I’m not sure what I’ll be wearing as we’re having a low key day – I’m thinking a shearling gilet for popping out to our local for a lunchtime tipple.
Thanks Christine, they really do! And the shearling gilet sounds lovely AND ideal! Have a wonderful Christmas x
