A lady in red & a rainbow necklace

SOMETIMES you buy something so wonderful that you just can’t wait to wear it.

Like this multicoloured beaded ‘rainbow’ necklace that I found in the online Topshop sale a couple of months ago. As soon as it arrived, I couldn’t wait to wear it but as it’s such a statement piece, it’s not – unfortunately – the easiest thing to wear.

It needs a simple neckline. It needs the chance to shine. It demands a simple canvas to stand out in all it’s glory and look it’s best.

And so there it hung in my jewellery cabinet until one fine day last week when I found just the thing in my wardrobe to let it do just that. The sun was shining, it was a special day (we were celebrating my Mother-in-Law’s retirement) and I felt the need to wear some colour.

I opted for this little red skater dress, another Topshop sale number, and as soon as I put it on, I knew immediately what piece of jewellery to wear with it.

I placed my ‘rainbow’ around my neck and as I did, Elsie strolled into the room and say, “wow, Mummy.” which obviously sealed the deal. What can I say? She may only be two, but she already knows a fine piece of jewellery when she sees one ;-)

As it was a little chilly, I teamed my red frock with thick grey opaque tights from Primark. Yep, I’m already getting into the autumn spirit, god bless you hosiery! And footwear were my trusty Boohoo ankle boots. I’ve had these a couple of years now and they’re still going strong.

Finally, to complete the look and keep out the chill, I popped on my denim trench coat,Primark again. My new wardrobe staple that was – quite probably – the sale bargain of the century! Honestly, I’m besotted with this coat. It goes with everything.

And so there you have it. I loved this outfit. It was fun, bright and made me feel pretty smashing in all honesty. Which really, when it comes to clothes, is what we’re all aiming for isn’t it?

There may have been no Chris De Burgh playing in the background but boy oh boy, I certainly felt good as a lady in red.

What do you think? Have you got any statement necklaces that are difficult to wear? Do you love to wear colour too?!

Have an amazing week everyone! Give it some welly! ;-)

With love (and pouts)

Kate
