A kissable pout (and how to get it)…

IT’S Valentine’s Day which means only one thing, single or not, today is the day you should beautify your lips!

If you’re in a couple, it’s the perfect day for a long, lingering smooch and if you’re not, well by making your lips extra luscious, just think of who you may attract! Here’s how to get the perfect kissable pout:

1) Exfoliate –  Kissable lips need to be smooth so banish flaky lips by exfoliating gently with an old moist toothbrush or with a little bit of sugar straight from the kitchen cupboard. Exfoliate wet lips gently and then softly pat dry.

2) Treat ’em – Central heating, freezing temperatures and weirdly, my pregnancy hormones, have caused my lips to become really dry of late. Luckily, I’ve found the perfect product to get them back to health and even better, it’s incredibly purse friendly, costing less than £2!

My trusty ChapStick!

My Medicated ChapStick  is the first thing I reach for when my lips start to lose their kissable-ness. Slick on a bit of this medicated balm or similar and your lips will love you for it.

3) Enhance – Make your lips stand out by subtly enhancing their natural beauty. Most men hate lipstick (it’s just not kissable!) so think tinted lipbalms or light lipgloss.

Whenever I want to enhance my lips subtly, I always go for my trusty tin of Rosy Lips Vaseline. Made with rose and almond oil, it smells delicious, adds just the right amount of sheer colour and helps to keep them soft and shiny. I also like to line and gently colour in my lips first with a neutral coloured lip liner – something like Spice by Mac.

I’m currently loving this new Lip Therapy Pink Tin from Vaseline! Containing four of the iconic lip therapies, there’s a tin for every occasion which means you’re never far away from luscious lips. (What’s more you can win one! – see below for details)

Lip Therapy from Vaseline

If you must wear lipstick opt for a lighter shade. My favourite lipsticks for pale but pretty lips can be found in the Revlon Matte collection001 Nude Addiction (THE perfect matte nude – I almost jumped for joy when I found this!) and 002 Pink Pout (a 60’s inspired pale pink).

Red lips look fabulous, no one can deny that, but for days like today, think less is more and stick to a more ‘natural’ look.

4) If you can’t pout, at least smile! – Nobody likes a misery guts, so show off your gorgeous lips and smile! A confident smile is incredibly attractive and if nothing else, people won’t be able to help themselves wondering “what IS that woman thinking?”

Single or coupled up, make sure today is THE day when you show you and your lips a whole lotta love ;-) You never know what might happen!

Mwah! Happy Valentine’s Day! x

Till the next time,

Katie
